Skills for Success Program Available Online with Flexible Learning Options
(Sault Ste. Marie, ON November 16, 2023) 鈥 黑料吃瓜 is now offering a new, tuition-free educational initiative aimed at supporting newcomers to Canada. The Skills for Success program offers three innovative micro-credentials in Communication, Collaboration, and Adaptability, specifically designed to meet the unique needs of newcomers to Canada and enhance the skills needed to thrive in the Canadian workforce. Registration is now open by visiting Skills Enhancement for Newcomers.
Each micro-credential is up to 20-hours in length and is fully online and asynchronous giving the participants the flexibility to complete the course at a time most convenient for them. The micro-credentials also contain a Learn, Practice, and Apply section, with three virtual simulations as well as case studies, case-based exercises, and role plays. Each micro-credential also has an assessment at the beginning. Those participants who are successful with the assessment will pass the micro-credential and those not successful will be required to complete the course in full.
The Skills for Enhancement training is a step towards developing the skills and employability of newcomers further preparing them to meet on-the-job skill demands in the Canadian workplace, as well as connecting/transferring their skills and knowledge from international work experience to the Canadian labour market,鈥 said Lori Crosson, Dean, Continuing Education, E-Learning and Culinary. 鈥淭his program is offered at no cost to eligible applications, and we encourage those interested to register today. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a micro-certificate.鈥
