It is so meaningful for us to be able to once again host this important festival on campus and celebrate with our students, staff, and community members, said Jessica Barbet, International Student Relations Specialist. For many of our community members, this is a significant celebration and being able to bring everyone together to learn, reflect and participate in this amazing evening of culture is truly amazing. All are welcomed and invited to attend and to share in this celebration, she added.
Diwali is Indias most important festival of the year a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. The festival of lights is one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists. There are many different traditions that surround the five-day celebration of this holiday. Overall, it is considered an important time for introspection, cleansing, decorating, gathering and worship. The celebration of Diwali includes lighting the house with lights and diyas (earthen lamps) and decorate the house with flowers and rangolis.
We hope to see you there!
